Do you ever just suddenly think about something and get totally entranced by it? Like no matter how hard you try to do something else, you just can’t seem to stop thinking about it. Well, same thing happened to me. And no, I don’t mean that hot popular crush of yours or the new business deal going on in your company, which may lead to your promotion. Though I wish you luck on those matters, if they exist for you. I am actually talking about the relationship between a certain phenomena of nature and a notion of humans, i.e. of – Fate and Free Will, respectively.
What do these terms mean, anyways? I bet most of you have different opinions on it. Some would say fate is the destiny that is set out for us and we must follow it no matter what, unlike the others who believe in free will and say that everyone can choose their own path. The way humans perceive fate and free will provides much base for their complicated and practically inexplicable relationship.
I have thought a lot about it and I can’t seem to understand how all this works out. I mean, think about it dude, one day you are told that you gotta follow the family business but you don’t want to, so you pack your bags and leave. You think you have defied your fate (following the family business) and are set on the path of free will (packing your bags and leaving) but are you, honestly? Or maybe you’re just following your destiny, your fate, which was to run away from the family business all this time? Crazy, right? I get it. The truth is, fate cannot be determined and free will can sometimes take us on that path. But if such is the case, then, does free will even exists? Or are we just puppets following our fate in the name of free will, the latter being the notion created by us humans itself and having no concrete proof?
Personally, I believe that no can ever realize or find out if their actions are being guided by fate or free will. It is another mystery in this suspenseful world, full of many undiscovered things and is just waiting to be discovered. But the question is-when? The answer is quite simple- when humans start thinking about this matter and wish to discover and understand the complex nature of the relationship between fate and free will. However, we are so busy in material things, we rarely have moments to appreciate the world and to think about the complex and beautiful relations present in it. This wonderful concept needs to be contemplated over by us to the extent of our capability and caliber.
